SYDNEY – The global fashion industry is mourning the devastating loss of one of its brightest rising stars. Lucy Markovic, the 27-year-old Australian top model who graced the runways for elite brands like Givenchy, Versace, and Emporio Armani, has tragically passed away following complications from a rare brain condition.
The heartbreaking news was shared by her family on Instagram, accompanied by a touching video tribute.
“To our beloved Lucy. You left us far too soon. Your sunshine, joy, and boundless energy lit up every room. You were just weeks away from launching your own fitness app — something you had poured your heart into for the past two years,” her family wrote.
The video showed Lucy behind the scenes filming content for her upcoming app, smiling and full of life — an image her loved ones say is how they will always remember her.
“Your dreams were sky-high. Becoming a Victoria’s Secret Angel was at the top of your list, and now, you’ll walk among the angels in heaven — and they’ll be lucky to have you. We will forever carry your joy and energy in our hearts and cherish every amazing memory. Fly free, enjoy the journey, and we’ll meet again on the other side. We love you forever, Lucy.”
According to international media reports, Lucy suffered from Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) — a rare condition involving tangled blood vessels in the brain that disrupt oxygen flow to brain tissue. Despite undergoing surgery in late March, the complications proved fatal.
Tributes have poured in from across the fashion industry, including an emotional message from Donatella Versace, who posted:
“I’m deeply saddened to hear about Lucy. Rest in peace, beautiful girl.”
