The music world is mourning the loss of Chris Jasper (73), a legendary musician and former member of the Isley Brothers, who passed away after a battle with cancer.
Jasper joined the Isley Brothers in 1973, contributing to some of the group’s biggest hits, including For the Love of You and Contagious. His influence extended beyond the band, as he later formed the trio Isley-Jasper-Isley before launching a successful solo career.
His passing was confirmed by his family, with his son, Michael Jasper, revealing that the musician had been diagnosed with cancer in December 2024. He fought bravely but succumbed to the illness on February 23, 2025.
“Chris was not only a music legend but also a devoted husband and father,” his son said in a statement. “He leaves behind his wife, Margie Jasper, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage, and their three sons, Michael, Nicholas, and Christopher. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire generations.”
Jasper’s contributions to R&B, funk, and soul music were monumental. His signature sound helped define the Isley Brothers’ golden era in the ’70s and ’80s, influencing countless artists. Fans and fellow musicians are paying tribute to his impact, celebrating a career that spanned over five decades.
